How has COVID-19 Changed the Filming Industry

COVID-19 has changed a lot of things since it began. Within a year, the world has shut down, industries have been permanently transformed, and humanity is different.

The filming industry is just one of the areas that have been heavily affected by COVID-19, and it’s probably important to address exactly how it has been transformed by the pandemic.

The Rise of Digital

One thing that is more common at the moment is the rise of digital media. Digital media has proven that it can be an incredible force for good, and has ultimately shaped the course of the world on more than one occasion.

With that being said, it’s also true that when it comes to digital media, it wasn’t the only form of entertainment available. The traditional cinema gatherings and things like that were still incredibly fashionable.

This is not the case anymore. Because picture houses and cinemas are no longer viable, the world of digital media has effectively been shut down. What this means is that digital media has had a chance to shine as being the dominant way the people view entertainment.

Fresh, New Ideas

Covid 19 will also herald the age of new, fresh ideas. Filmmakers will now be looking to see how they can shoot movies without the massive cast and crew requirements. It may be possible that certain shoots will be kept quite small, if at all.

This will no doubt lead to a revolution in terms of thinking. When you don’t have as many resources as you want hard, it becomes a lot more necessary to think of new strategies and ways to produce an excellent picture. Filmmaking will have to get creative, to experience things in new and dynamic ways, to consider technology that may not have been used previously.

This is going to be a period of upheaval and change for the filmmaking industry. No longer will multi-million-pound production teams mark the coming of a new film. Exotic locations and glamorous film shoots may not be possible anymore. There are hundreds of people who work on a single picture, providing every possible need and requirement, who may no longer have the capacity to participate. Things will change, that much is obvious.

In conclusion, this will no doubt be an exciting period for the filmmaking industry. Things will change. There is no denying it, there is no preventing it, things will change for the better. It’s going to be exciting to see all the different changes that are coming up, to start to explore new styles of filmmaking, to breathe new life into an industry that potentially was getting a little bit stale. Filmmakers and creatives everywhere will be looking to create new pictures, exciting directions, and bold statements. It’s going to be absolutely fantastic. This could well be the beginning of a whole new genre of filmmaking, the lockdown period may affectionately be known as the time when a Renaissance was entered
